Textile Design Pattern Empire
On May 18, 1804, Napoleon himself became Emperor, and at the end of the same year Pope Pius VII came to Paris to preside over the coronation. As this coronation proceeded so slowly, Napoleon snatched the crown from the pope and put it on his head.
Textile design pattern in Emperor Style that emerged at this time was essentially neoclassical, referring to ancient furniture and decorative motifs. In textile, gold, magenta, purple, and royal blue, which symbolize the power of the emperor, were used. Symbols of power, such as laurel wreaths, oak leaves, and oak trees, were used to symbolize power. Dolphins, swans, axons leaves and medals were the preferred subjects, and of course Napoleon bee, which Napoleon found in Egyptian hieroglyphs and used as his personal symbol, was preferred as textile design motives.
